If I was doing a classic Project 100 Pan, I’d be over halfway there! …But I’m not, so I don’t really have any milestones to celebrate. Nonetheless, 60 empty products is still a pretty good effort, considering how few products I managed to use up before I consciously started trying. I’m a serial almost-user-upper, then abandoning the product in a drawer with the last dregs still remaining, and moving on to a newer, more exciting product.
51. LUSH Rudolph Fresh Face Mask – Repurchase? Maybe.
This was a limited edition Christmas product that I actually used up ages ago (because they don’t have a very long shelf life) and completely forgot about, but I hung on to the tub because you can trade them in for a free face mask. It works ok, but I prefer other fresh face masks from LUSH.
52. Neutrogena Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover – Repurchase? Yes.
I’m a bit confused about the oil-free claim, because I found it quite oily, and it left an oily residue on my skin. It doesn’t actually bother me, but it might be a problem for anyone who bought it based on that feature. It’s great at removing waterproof and heavy eye makeup, and is quite possibly my favourite drugstore makeup remover.
53. Paula’s Choice CLEAR Anti-Redness Exfoliating Solution with 2% Salicylic Acid – Repurchase? Maybe.
This was a pretty big sample, but although I think I got some decent use out of it, I didn’t notice any major difference to my skin. However, it’s raved about by members of the beauty community so I’m keen to buy a full size bottle and give it another go. The jury’s still out on this one.
54. Clarins Instant Eye Makeup Remover – Repurchase? Yes.
My mum gave me this sample, and I was actually hoping I wouldn’t like it as much as I do. To be honest, it’s awesome. It removes all traces of eye makeup with a swipe or two. I would repurchase in a heartbeat if it wasn’t so bloody expensive.
55. Batiste Dye Shampoo (Original) – Repurchase? Yes.
I don’t think this product needs any introduction. A mini can of dry shampoo should be in everybody’s handbag. I can’t live without it.
56. La Riche Directions Hair Dye (Carnation Pink) – Repurchase? No.
I’ve talked before about how Special Effects is my favourite hair dye, but I’ve had varying amount of success with La Riche Directions hair dye as well. I use it as a top up because it’s cheaper than Special Effects. However, Carnation Pink is a very weak pink – like cotton candy with slight orange undertones. I need something more fluorescent, so I wouldn’t use this particular shade again.
57. TRESemmé Heat Tamer Protective Spray – Repurchase? Yes.
A great drugstore heat protecting spray. It dries quickly, and protects my hair well. Not much else to say, really.
58. LUSH Snow Fairy Shower Gel – Repurchase? Yes.
I love the smell of this, although I know it makes some people gag because it’s so sweet! It’s a shame it’s limited edition. If there’s one product you’ve got to try at Christmas from LUSH, it’s this.
59. Silk Naturals Ice Menthol Organic Lip Balm – Repurchase? Yes.
Silk Naturals is an indie makeup and skincare brand based in the US. I’ve been using their loose mineral foundation for-ever, it’s awesome. I received this lip balm as a sample with an order. I love the pepperminty tingle! It’s quite thick compared to the usual lip balms I like, but it has great lasting power because of that.
60. Dove Original Deodorant Roll-On – Repurchase? Yes.
I have so many backups of this because I stock up when they’re on sale. It doesn’t stand up to heavy exercise, but it does the job on regular non-exercise days, and it’s dirt cheap.
