On Monday I showed you the first half of this year’s Pretty Serious’ Halloween offering, the Killer Fangirls collection. I briefly mentioned that the second half is called Till Death Do Us Party, and is a set of 3 polishes created specially for Kaz and Ben’s horror themed wedding, which took place last weekend. I think it’s lovely that they wanted to share the occasion not just with their guests, but with the customers and supporters of Pretty Serious as well!
The set consists of 4 bottles – 3 polishes and a top coat. When purchased as a set, they come in a box that houses all 4 bottles, rather than the usual individual box packaging. I bought the Wedding Edition (which is still available at time of writing), which comes with special red foil labels on the bottles and box, instead of the standard black labelling.
Aww you guise ♥
Bloody Bride was designed by Kaz with the intention of wearing it herself on the big day. While I have yet to see any photo verification (hint hint Kaz, if you’re reading this!), I’m not sure if I feel special that we get to share this with her, or awkward that I’m wearing a wedding polish with no wedding in sight! Either way, I’m sure I’ll get over the awkward feeling because I really like Bloody Bride. It’s a dark crimson jelly base packed with red and purple glitter, with some holographic glimmer in there too. It’s beautifully pigmented and only needs 2 coats for full opacity and decent glitter coverage. It has so much depth, it actually does remind me of blood (but I say that in the best way possible!).
Gruesome Groom was designed by Ben, although unfortunately he didn’t wear it on his nails at the wedding. It’s a murky olive (zombie?) green crelly base with blue shimmer flecks, and red hex glitter in various sizes. It looks exactly like a bloody zombie! Although it’s opaque in 2 coats, I wish the base was less pigmented to allow more of the red glitter to peek through. Every coat almost completely covers up the coat underneath. I really like the blue shimmer though, which is similar in concept to Blue Gums on Boxing Day, which is also a green polish with blue shimmer. I think I read somewhere that Ben also designed that one, so I hope he designs more polishes!
Black Diamond is like a darker, more subdued version of Daphne’s Birthday Party. It’s a glitter topper consisting of blue, pink, purple, green and black glitter in a clear base. I layered this as a gradient over ORLY Teal Unreal, but Pretty Serious claims it’s opaque in 2 coats.
The formulas on these were a lot thicker than the usual Pretty Serious formula, but nothing a few drops of thinner couldn’t fix. Apparently the vegan formula can cause this sort of thickness, so it’s just something to be aware of.
I haven’t had a chance to test the Crystal Coat top coat properly yet, so keep an eye out for a proper review of that in the next few weeks.
The Till Death Do Us Party! collection is available from the Pretty Serious website with international shipping. The Wedding Edition with red labels pictured in this post is limited edition and only available while stocks last.
