Femme Fatale Worldbreaker Eyeshadow Collection – Swatches & Review

I bought the Femme Fatale Cosmetics Worldbreaker collection yonks ago, based entirely on the pretty swatches on the website. Never mind the fact that I didn’t wear eyeshadow at the time, and have only just started using them. I guess they hold the same appeal as nail polish – they look beautiful within the packaging, and you just know that they’ll look just as beautiful when you eventually get around to wearing them, but until then you’re happy to admire them as is!

The Worldbreaker collection consists of 5 loose mineral eyeshadows based around a purple theme. Like most Femme Fatale collections, this is inspired by some aspect of World of Warcraft, so of course my inner geek can’t resist. As a result, these eyeshadows have magical duochromes and shimmers to give them a gorgeous fantasy-like element.

They’re all buttery smooth and easy to apply, although I had a little bit of trouble with Inner Madness (you can see a bit of unevenness in the swatch application). In the end though they all achieved incredible opacity with little effort. I’ve swatched them here over the De Leon Eye Primer. Click them to enlarge!

L-R: Demon Soul, Blood’s Shadow, The Dark One, Inner Madness, Ancient Traitor

Demon Soulblack based shade with a colour-shifting finish, going from green through to red/pink depending on the angle of the light.

Blood’s Shadow: black based shade full of gold, blue and pink sparkles.

The Dark One: smooth black based shade with a sultry violet shine, and lavender and purple sparkles.

Inner Madness: bright mid-range cool-toned purple with a blue duochrome finish and blue/aqua sparkles.

Ancient Traitor: pale baby pink with a blue duochrome finish; suitable for highlighting.

As a collection, I feel like there are too many almost-black shades. I mean, yeah, they are distinctively different, but I would have liked to see them balanced out with more bright or mid toned colours.

It’s great for a smokey eye, so I have attempted one – although I’ve never done a really dark smokey eye before so I may have gone a little overboard with the blending brush! I used The Dark One all over the lid, Demon Soul on the crease and Ancient Traitor on the inner corner and browbone.
